I am sure most of you have heard by now that the concert never happened. And if you live under a rock you can see why here
Such a tragic August 13, 2011 for people that were at the Indiana State fair.
As you also know it was suppose to be my girls first "real" concert. We all were excited for them! We arrived at the fair early that day so we could ride the rides, eat the good fair food and just make fair memories. Little did we know that at 8:49 our lives would be forever changed.
It was surreal - and like something you would see in a movie. We were seated in the front row of the grandstands and off to the distance we could only see what I would say was a dirt cloud and we honestly thought it was a tornado at that point. My husband was SCREAMING at me to jump down and so I did- He put the girls over the railing to me and he jumped down with us. I knew my mom couldn't jump because of her bad knees so she and my dad made their way back up the grandstands to go out the normal way.
At that point I was scared that we would lose them in the crowed and my poor babies were freaking out as well. They thought something was going to happen to mamaw and papaw and we kept telling them it was OK we would find them and by the grace of God we did! I was waving my hands so hard and fast trying to get their attention in the mass of people. The six of us were reunited after what seemed to be a life time but probably only 3 or 4 minutes.
We were the lucky ones there were 5 people that lost their lives and over 40 that are still wounded. I have been consumed with the media coverage of everything that is going on and my heart just aches because something so fun ended so tragic.
It's something I hope I never see again in my lifetime and I hope my girls never see anything like it again either.
We are thankful we made it out safe and sound and I realized how much my husband loves his family during this ordeal. And I love him for that!
My thoughts and prayers are with anyone that lost a family member, friend, or loved ones.
